Remaining Bulky Item Pick Up Days

Last two pick up days for residents

A reminder for residents who receive City garbage collection - the remaining dates for 2014-2015 Bulky Item pickup are: Saturday, April 18, 2015, for residents with Thursday garbage collection and Saturday, April 25, 2015, for residents with Friday garbage collection.

All items must be set curbside by 7am on the scheduled collection day and must adhere to the guildlines below.

1. Bulky Items are furniture, appliances, and other household items that are not part of normal weekly collection.

2. Bulky Item collection is offered to residential properties only (up to four units).

3. Items must be neat and orderly placed curbside by 7AM on the collection day (no more than 48 Hours prior). Items should no be placed by a mailbox, fence, or utility pole. Do not block sidewalks or street.

4. Amount of Bulky Items is limited to 6 cubic yards per residence (about the size of a couch and large chair with small items placed on top; or 6 feet long by 6 feet wide by 4 feet tall).

5. Do no place bulk items in another resident's bulk pile. This is considered illegal dumping.

6. Do not put out cardboard boxes, either empty or filled with items.

7. Place like items together. For example, place metal items together, rugs together, etc

8. Piles that are ineligible for collection will be tagged and not collected.

Hazardous & Liquid Waste

Furniture

Vehicles & Motor Parts or anything with a title of ownership (e.g. motorcycle, trailer, etc.)

Rolled rugs/ carpets (no more than 4 ft wide)

Propane Tanks (can be disposed at Norwalk Transfer Station)

Metal Items

Yard Waste

Electronics

Tires

Lumber (cut into pieces no more than 4 ft)

Construction & Remodeling Debris (e.g. concrete, sheetrock, masonry, toilets, sinks, pipes, shingles, tiles, furnaces, etc. )

Large Toys

Single-Stream Recycling

Household appliances and furnishings-air tight doors must be removed per CT State Law

Clothing & Textiles
