The Brien McMahon Senators lost a lot of potential income after a power outage forced high school officials to cancel the remaining portion of the Marching Band's largest annual fundraiser, the "Celebration of Sound," back in September.

Wednesday morning, General Growth Properties donated $2,500 to help the band make up for the loss of revenue.

"As somebody who played instruments and now my son plays in the All-City Orchestra, I understand and appreciate how important the arts are," said Senator Bob Duff.

"Senator Duff and I have known each other for a while and he knows that General Growth Properties focuses on the arts and education as part of the charitable side of our company, and he asked if we would be willing to participate and donate some money to help offset some of losses from that event which we were happy to be able to do," said Doug Adams, Senior Director for General Growth Properties.

The Senators Marching Band plans to use the money for instruments, uniforms and competition travel expenses.
