First County Bank Employees Donate Backpacks

Human Services Council collects for Norwalk families

Norwalk, CT | Added on August 25, 2014 At 03:14 PM

First County Bank employees rallied to donate backpacks for school children in Norwalk through the Human Services Council’s Community Prevention Task Force Family Day celebrations held August 22 at Washington Village and August 23 at Meadow Gardens, Norwalk.  First County Bank employees collected over 95 backpacks and bundles of school supplies to fill the backpacks donated by colleagues. Additionally, employees donated over $200 for the Human Services Council to purchase other supplies needed for the children’s backpacks.

“First County Bank is proud to have employees eagerly volunteer their time and donate goods to meet needs in our area,” said Rick Zaremski, senior vice president, Business Banking Division. “I’ve had the pleasure to work with the Human Services Council for some time and know they make a huge difference in our community. These backpacks will help many children start their school year well equipped and with a smile.”

The donations from First County Bank employees helped Human Services Council  achieve their goal of giving every child a backpack at Family Day. The number of backpacks and supplies surpassed the number collected in previous years. The goal of Family Day celebrations is to unite families in a positive community setting to learn about the impact of underage drinking and substance abuse on health and wellness.
