The SoNo Summer Concert Series is back.

Now in its third year, the series of Wednesday night music presented by the SoNo Corporate Center kicked off at 50 Washington Street.

"It gets the community involved in an intimate way," says Stacey Hascoe, assistant director at SoNo Corporate Center.  "We try to incorporate local charities and bands and artists that have a tie to Norwalk."

Hascoe is partly responsible for the concerts.  This year she's brought a number of local acts to the stage, including Norwalk's own Reggae Culture and Mystic Bowie, who both performed at the first show.

"[This year] we have the reggae, we also will have Broadway and more classical music, and we have rock and funk," Hascoe says.  "Every year we are going to try and do that and have theme nights."

But it's not just about the music.  Last year the concerts added charity to the mix, and that's carried over. Wednesday the beneficiaries were the Brien McMahon High School cheerleaders.  The second show on July 17 will benefit the Paradigm Theatre.

"Adding the charity made all the difference," Hascoe says.  "It really helps to highlight different aspects of Norwalk, and there are a lot of great charities right here in the area."

The next show will feature the Paradigm Theatre and the Norwalk Symphony Orchesta.  The finale on August 7 will feature guitarist Andy Aledort and local band, The Juicy Grapes.

Admission is free.  Each show runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.  For more information, visit www.sonocorp.com.
