Norwalk Police Honor Fallen Brothers
Memorial Service During National Police Week

"We remember, recall and respect their courage, dedication and willingness to seek the good of the community before their own good," said Father Michael Boccaccio, during the Norwalk Department of Police Service Police Memorial Ceremony Wednesday morning. 

Deputy Chief Susan Zecca read the names of four Norwalk Police Officers lost in the line of duty. 

Sergeant Frank S. Stratton served the community of Norwalk for 28 years. Officer Sherrald Gorton served the community for 12 years. Sergeant Nicholas Fera served the community for 19 years. Officer Marco Carias served the community for 2 years. 

"It's important that we take the time for formally acknowledge and recognize the sacrifices that have been made. As one of the brotherhood in blue we must take a leadership role in assuring that we truly never forget," said Norwalk Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik.

Mayor Harry Rilling said, "When others are running from danger, police officers are running towards it, prepared to give up their lives. They do this willingly."

Sergeant David Orr, President of the Norwalk Police Union said, "The most fitting tribute we can pay to our fallen brothers and sisters is to continue on performing the job that they died doing. In the face of unprecedented challenges, our law enforcement officers continue to answer the call to duty with courage, compassiona and perseverance, the values that define our mission."
