When talking about the Center for Youth Leadership's Resolutions Project, Nic Solano, member of the organization referenced a Audrey Hepburn quote. He said, "As you grow older you discover you have two hands, one for helping yourself and one for helping others"

The Center for Youth Leadership at Brien McMahon High School is looking at the big picture when it comes to making their New Year's Resolutions.

Solano said, "A typical resolution is finally going to start my diet this year. Our idea is what if your resolution was I'm finally going to stop bullying the girl in math class this year or I'm finallly going to stand up to my bully. I'm finally going to help my friend get away from her abusive boyfriend."

At 7:30 pm on New Year's Eve, members of the Center for Youth Leadership will be on Washington Street in South Norwalk holding signs representing their resolution.

Erin Iovinelli, a member of the Center for Youth Leadership said, "Especially in the school setting we're focused a lot on school climate which is the wellness of everyone in the school because we're all there for the common cause of education. Instead of just focusing on yourself, [this project is] focusing on the community people around you."

"It's a way to step out of the box," said Melanie Patino, a member of the Center for Youth Leadership. "People usually do common resolutions like I'm going to go to the gym more or I'm going to be nicer or something but I think this is a good opporunity to look at the bigger picture of how we as a nation need to be stronger."

Members say the project is just one of the things they are taking on in the New Year.
