The longest running High School winter concert in New England is set to take the stage at Norwalk High School.
Susan Pettibone, Choral Director at Norwalk High School said, "We've never not had "Candlelight." It's the oldest "Candlelight in New England and the two year they didn't have it was when there was a mandatory blackout here in Norwalk because of World War II"
Candlelight includes performances from over 600 Norwalk High School music students including the orchestra, chorus, and band.
Freshman Danny Farttaroli said, "It's exciting because we get to meet new people and it's just a good experience."
Junior Diazia Keel said, "It's really overwhelming but I really like it. It's the best time of the school year."
The concert includes classic holiday songs as well as several skits.
Senior and Soloist Sergio Mandujano said, "It's real fun that I get to be in a lot of the show and I think the part that I will probably look forward to the most is the "O Holy Night" solo that I have Wednesday night which is alumni night. The auditorium will be packed and emotions will probably be really hight that night."
Pettibone added, "It's like, wow, look at how beautiful they are, and listen to how beautiful they sound and all this hard work and they're so excited to be up there and they're so passionate about it."
Candlelight 2013 will take place at Norwalk High School’s, Albert Horne Memorial Auditorium on December 16, 17, and 18, 2013. For more information visit: http://www.norwalkhighmusicdept.com/
